Accommodations
Big Gilley
Sometimes called "The Gilley House" or "Big Gilley" after the farmer who originally lived there, this home was renovated by our grandparents in the 1920's and has a restrained, late Victorian flavor. It easily sleeps twelve. The bottom floor includes a double bedroom with attached bath, a large, fully equipped kitchen and pantry with dishwasher, a shower room, good sized living and dining rooms, and a mid size utility/entry room with washer and dryer. An open, covered porch has a superb view of Great Cranberry Island and the Western Way. The second floor has the rest of the bedrooms: a double with attached bath, a triple and a single, which share a bath, and two doubles which also share a bath. Rental is $2,400 per week plus 9% Maine rooms and meals tax and a $350 cleaning fee (charged only once, regardless of the length of occupancy). Off-season rates are $1,400 per week.
Little Gilley
"Little Gilley" was constructed later and had artistic additions of decks and a tower. It sleeps seven. The bottom floor is open plan and includes the kitchen (with dishwasher), living and dining areas, a full bathroom and two small utility rooms, one of which contains a washer and dryer. The second floor has two medium-sized bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with a queen and a single. There is also a single room and a second full bathroom. Up a set of steep stairs is a tower room with another single bed. There is a porch and decks on the second floor and roof top, all of which have a view of the water. It is rustic in nature and comfortable. Rental is $1,300 per week plus 9% Maine rooms and meals tax and a $150 cleaning fee (charged only once, regardless of the length of occupancy). The off-season rate is $800 per week.
